Romans 10:14-15
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News of good things!”
Anyone who calls on the Name of the Lord in faith, no matter who they are or what country they come from, will be saved. “For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for ‘Whoever will call on the Name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:11-13).'”
But here’s the thing: they need someone to tell them. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17).” A person comes to Christ when someone with “beautiful feet” brings them the Good News of the Gospel and they believe what they hear. No matter what nationality, ethnicity, or dialect, anyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.
These messengers with “beautiful feet” are called “preachers” not because they’ve gone to seminary or hold a pastoral position at a local church. They are preachers because they are heralds of the Gospel. Every follower of Jesus is a preacher; every Christian is called and sent to be a herald of the Good News to this lost world.
You are that preacher. You are that herald. This task must not fall on full time clergy alone or it will fail. The whole Body of Christ must take part in proclaiming the Love of God to all peoples.
Are your feet beautiful? Are you a messenger of the Gospel to your co-workers, class mates, friends, family, neighbors or whoever you might run into throughout the day? How will they believe if they haven’t heard? And how will they here without a preacher? Who will lead them, if not you?
